Fines for violating the period of stay in Georgia — rules in force since 1 October 2025 (amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences, Law No. 875-IIms-XImp).

OVERSTAYING THE LEGAL PERIOD:

— Up to 3 months: GEL 1,000 fine + 6-month entry ban

— From 3 months to 1 year: GEL 2,000 fine + 2-year entry ban

— Over 1 year: GEL 3,000 fine + 3-year entry ban

(Previous fines were GEL 180–360 with no entry ban.)

OTHER VIOLATIONS:

— Violation of transit rules: GEL 500

— Inviting, hosting, providing services to or using the services of a foreigner who has violated residence, work or study rules (individuals and legal entities): warning or GEL 2,000 (previously GEL 1,000)

A simplified deportation procedure also applies under the new rules. Citizens of visa-free countries may stay in Georgia for 90 days in any 180-day period (for a full year for many nationalities — check your specific regime); exceeding it triggers the fines above.

To extend a stay, apply for a residence permit before the legal period expires: sda.gov.ge (Public Service Development Agency). Source: matsne.gov.ge, Law No. 875 (in force 01.10.2025). This is legal information, not legal advice.
